Hey y'all! I hope everyone had a wonderful fourth of July! Ours was quiet, we went hiking. LOL! I just love to go hiking, especially when I can stop and take all kinds of great photo's. I have to make the time to get a few pics uploaded here when I can. I have a few thumbs that I am going to upload, but I haven't really worked on many lately, I have a few of dragonflies I am sharing today and a few of my artistic photo's....Wolfie n I are still working on getting fit, I have lost a few more pounds, but still working on it. I am having trouble breathing today, which is the first time since I was put on Combivent inhaler, which is good because I have not used it, until just now. Hopefully tomorrow's air quality will be better. I pray all is well with everyone! I think we are going to go hiking tomorrow. we will see. I have been busy creating a few "series" of tile backgrounds, which I have uploaded a few to Flickr, the first series I call my "Kaleidoscope Tiles" & the second series I call my " Dragonfly Sinedots Tiles". I will get a few more uploaded as soon as I can. I am still thinking about creating my own group, but Red is right, there is much to consider, however I think i can make the group "private/closed" and I think I can decide who can join and what not...not sure I just havent had any time to investigate, but I sure will let all my friends know if I create a group or not... Until next time, I wish you all much love & happiness......Dee

Hello Everyone! Well I am trying very hard to get caught up on the blogs and my pics and yard work, house chores etc. LOL! I am having a hard time getting back into the swing of things. Not sure why, it just seems like by the time I get home from work, get all the chores done that need getting done, I log on here about 7-7:30 pm and poof! it's 8-9 pm! I read my mail, my online newspaper, and then before I know it, it's time for bed! ( I watch a few shows Tuesday through Thursday at 8 and 9 pm) Geesh I just don't know where the time goes...Anyway.....I am adding a group of thumbnails that I took at the Ripley's Aquarium, all you have to do is click on them to enlarge them...one by one.... hugssssss to you all!....I will be back again soon!....Oh yeah..... Happy Mothers Day to all you Mom's! much love and blessings! Dee **The above photo is Joe's tattoo he got done down here, he was so inspired by the Seahorses and what they stand for! ( the male seahorse carries the fertilized eggs to maturity and thus the babies are "birthed" by DAD!)....The tatt represents him and his twins....I thought that was a very cool thing to do!...what a great dad he is!...He is both Mother and Father to his girls.....He is a very special guy....I love him with all my heart! Joe goofing off! |
| Hey Folks! Well I said I would get a few of my photographs/digital art pieces up, so here I go: I am going to post probably once or twice a week, depending on what I have to do during the week....Remember, you can always go to my galleries, which is posted on my front page as my homepage to view my work: I just thought it might be fun to post a few here n there: Today will be a few wildlife photo's I took: Momma & one of the twin cubs Another shot of momma with the other cub This is a different day, I think this one was a young fella foraging for nuts n berries Love the deer! This one was taken on a Thanksgiving Day in Cades Cove Nice rack on this dude! A close up of a doe in fresh fallen snow Peek a Boo! Next is a Timber Rattler! The Story Behind this dude was so damn frightening! I was "hoppin' the rocks in the Little River in the Smoky Mtns and almost hopped on this guy!.... I stopped myself just in time!...I was trying to motion to Wolfie to come quietly to come "Save ME!! " he had no idea, so when he got close enough he seen the fear in my eyes, he very slowly STOOD BEHIND ME!!! The big bad wolf was a chicken shit!....LOL! Seriously, he allowed me two-three shots then he grabbed my by my hoody and yanked me back toward him as hard and as fast as he could......I swear This timber rattler has Satin in his eyes, and later I really realized just how lucky I was....these guys can strike the length of their body, and this dude was at least 5 ft long! He could have easily bitten me....Phew!!! Between the bears and the snakes, I must say it gets the adrenaline pumping!....I really prefer NOT stumbling upon these creatures, but heck, I reckon if I am gonna play in the woods in the mtns, then I gotta play with critters!...lol!...hope ya'll enjoy my photography....I will post more "Sneek Peeks" later, perhaps insects next time, or maybe the Zoo, or maybe my florals, or maybe my scenary, ......or maybe my.....LOL! I tell you what, I will create a poll......then you can tell me!..... Much love and Blessings Dee |

Hi Folks! Well this is no April Fool's Joke, dang it ! My file host dropped out off the face of the Earth, so now neither my work, or my music are available to view.... Oh well.... I am getting a few things uploaded elsewhere, and I am using a free file hosting this time....I am NOT paying for it again. It will take a little time, but I will get it all back up and visible again...Sorry about that.....Life here is still a little hectic, but we are managing better with every day. My arms are so damn sore. LOL! I have been on our hills with wolfie, weed whacking the darn things, and let me tell you, I can hardly lift my arms up an inch!... LOL!!! the rest of me is not too bad, but omg, I have no upper body strength at all, but by the time I am done with this summer I should be!... It's all good..really! Wolfie and I are getting on better with each day, we continue to be smoke free, Yea!!!! I am a tad short these days though..lol....and that is not me, but I guess it is part of it. Alot going on with family too....It's Spring...typical "new beginnings" etc. I will be back again to try and touch base with as many blogs as I can...until next time..... I wish you all much love and many blessings and I miss you all! Hi folks! I apologize for not creating a blog until now, time has definately NOT been a friend to me as of late. I have been busy trying to pick up where Wolfie left off, he is under going physical therapy and NOT allowed to use his right arm in certain manners, such as mowing the lawn with the push mower (on the hills), weed whacking, no lifting, etc. I have been picking those chores up after work. It's been good exercise, to say the least, I am trying to look at things in a positive manner, lol! Not complaining, by any means, my sweet wolfie took care of me while I was healing, But I am pooped & I have less time on the computer is all. So, forgive me, if I haven't made it to your page to comment, or comment here....I am also trying my best to continue to create more background themes, which I absolutely love to do! I am currently working on Easter, Christian, and Spring Themes, and I will add them to my Flickr, in the appropriate albums, so feel free to take a peek....I was also asked to be a moderator for a wonderful group I belong to: 360 Custom Themes!.... I accepted, so please add us to your groups if you haven't done so already!....Send us your requests! Red & Sheri are awsome artists, check out their work along with many members work.......Well enough is enough, I will be back soon, I love you all and I wish you all much love & blessings, please remember to be kind to one another, life is so very short! Thanks for caring and sharing! Dee

Hugs to all! Thank you all so much for your offlines, messages in 360, comments, etc. The wolf is doing much better, improving every day. He is ready to go back to work, so he says...lol! I have been so darn busy working, coming home and helping my sweetie, and dinner, house chores, etc. phew!....But, I thank the good Lord that I am able to do so! Hopefully, tomorrow I can catch up with blogs, and create a few more backgrounds and post them in Flickr and in the 360 custom thees group folders. If anyone wants a customized background with your name or a St. Patrick's Day one, just send me a message! The winter storm back home has left my family digging out. My youngest was on his roof shoveling the snow off and the dummy slipped and fell off, luckily the snow was piled so darn high from the ground, that he only fell a few feet and into the snow he piled high. My oldest son went to my mom n dads and plowed and snow blowed them out, he had to use the tractor with a plow on it first, the snow was so deep, my folks live back in nestled in the pines in the country, the drive way is so long that you can't see their home from the road. so if you can imagine my son using his truck to plow a path to get to their home, then firing up the ol' tractor to push all that snow to God knows where. My middle son sent me this photo of his main highway, he was as equally busy snowblowing and shoveling and plowing. I find the pic a little eerie. the photo above was sent to me by a good friend back home..that's him shoveling round two of the blast, and the snow was back up to his knees already...he is 6'1"...geesh Anyway, I will try my best to get back here tomorrow, I miss you all! Much love & blessings! Dee

"TEAM HOYT" | Racing Towards Inclusion by David Tereshchuk Article courtesy of multi'merica.com Dick and Rick Hoyt are a father-and-son team from Massachusetts who together compete just about continuously in marathon races. And if theyâÂÂre not in a marathon they are in a triathlon â that daunting, almost superhuman, combination of 26.2 miles of running, 112 miles of bicycling, and 2.4 miles of swimming. Together they have climbed mountains, and once trekked 3,735 miles across America. ItâÂÂs a remarkable record of exertion â all the more so when you consider that Rick can't walk or talk. For the past twenty five years or more Dick, who is 65, has pushed and pulled his son across the country and over hundreds of finish lines. When Dick runs, Rick is in a wheelchair that Dick is pushing. When Dick cycles, Rick is in the seat-pod from his wheelchair, attached to the front of the bike. When Dick swims, Rick is in a small but heavy, firmly stabilized boat being pulled by Dick. At RickâÂÂs birth in 1962 the umbilical cord coiled around his neck and cut off oxygen to his brain. Dick and his wife, Judy, were told that there would be no hope for their childâÂÂs development. "ItâÂÂs been a story of exclusion ever since he was born," Dick told me. "When he was eight months old the doctors told us we should just put him away â heâÂÂd be a vegetable all his life, that sort of thing. Well those doctors are not alive any more, but I would like them to be able to see Rick now." The couple brought their son home determined to raise him as "normally" as possible. Within five years, Rick had two younger brothers, and the Hoyts were convinced Rick was just as intelligent as his siblings. Dick remembers the struggle to get the local school authorities to agree: "Because he couldnâÂÂt talk they thought he wouldnâÂÂt be able to understand, but that wasnâÂÂt true." The dedicated parents taught Rick the alphabet. "We always wanted Rick included in everything," Dick said. "ThatâÂÂs why we wanted to get him into public school." A group of Tufts University engineers came to the rescue, once they had seen some clear, empirical evidence of RickâÂÂs comprehension skills. "They told him a joke," said Dick. "Rick just cracked up. They knew then that he could communicate!" The engineers went on to build â using $5,000 the family managed to raise in 1972 - an interactive computer that would allow Rick to write out his thoughts using the slight head-movements that he could manage. Rick came to call it "my communicator." A cursor would move across a screen filled with rows of letters, and when the cursor highlighted a letter that Rick wanted, he would click a switch with the side of his head. When the computer was originally brought home, Rick surprised his family with his first "spoken" words. They had expected perhaps "Hi, Mom" or "Hi, Dad." But on the screen Rick wrote "Go Bruins." The Boston Bruins were in the Stanley Cup finals that season, and his family realized he had been following the hockey games along with everyone else. "So we learned then that Rick loved sports," said Dick. In 1975, Rick was finally admitted into a public school. Two years later, he told his father he wanted to participate in a five-mile benefit run for a local lacrosse player who had been paralyzed in an accident. Dick, far from being a long-distance runner, agreed to push Rick in his wheelchair. They finished next to last, but they felt they had achieved a triumph. That night, Dick remembers, "Rick told us he just didnâÂÂt feel handicapped when we were competing." RickâÂÂs realization turned into a whole new set of horizons that opened up for him and his family, as "Team Hoyt" began to compete in more and more events. Rick reflected on the transformation process for me, using his now-familiar but ever-painstaking technique of picking out letters of the alphabet: " What I mean when I say I feel like I am not handicapped when competing is that I am just like the other athletes, and I think most of the athletes feel the same way. In the beginning nobody would come up to me. However, after a few races some athletes came around and they began to talk to me. During the early days one runner, Pete Wisnewski had a bet with me at every race on who would beat who. The loser had to hang the winnerâÂÂs number in his bedroom until the next race. Now many athletes will come up to me before the race or triathlon to wish me luck." It is hard to imagine now the resistance which the Hoyts encountered early on, but attitudes did begin to change when they entered the Boston Marathon in 1981, and finished in the top quarter of the field. Dick recalls the earlier, less tolerant days with more sadness than anger: "Nobody wanted Rick in a road race. Everybody looked at us, nobody talked to us, nobody wanted to have anything to do with us. But you canâÂÂt really blame them - people often are not educated, and theyâÂÂd never seen anyone like us. As time went on, though, they could see he was a person â he has a great sense of humor, for instance. That made a big difference." After 4 years of marathons, Team Hoyt attempted their first triathlon â and for this Dick had to learn to swim. "I sank like a stone at first" Dick recalled with a laugh "and I hadnâÂÂt been on a bike since I was six years old." With a newly-built bike (adapted to carry Rick in front) and a boat tied to DickâÂÂs waist as he swam, the Hoyts came in second-to-last in the competition held on FatherâÂÂs Day 1985. "We chuckle to think about that as my FatherâÂÂs Day present from Rick, " said Dick. They have been competing ever since, at home and increasingly abroad. Generally they manage to improve their finishing times. "Rick is the one who inspires and motivates me, the way he just loves sports and competing," Dick said. And the business of inspiring evidently works as a two-way street. Rick typed out this testimony: "Dad is one of my role models. Once he sets out to do something, Dad sticks to it whatever it is, until it is done. For example once we decided to really get into triathlons, dad worked out, up to five hours a day, five times a week, even when he was working." The Hoytsâ mutual inspiration for each other seems to embrace others too â many spectators and fellow-competitors have adopted Team Hoyt as a powerful example of determination. "ItâÂÂs been funny," said Dick "Some people have turned out, some in good shape, some really out of shape, and they say âÂÂwe want to thank you, because weâÂÂre here because of youâÂÂ." Rick too has taken full note of their effect on fellow-competitors while racing: "Whenever we are passed (usually on the bike) the athlete will say "Go for it!" or "Rick, help your Dad!" When we pass people (usually on the run) theyâÂÂll say "Go Team Hoyt!" or "If not for you, we would not be out here doing this." Most of all, perhaps, the Hoyts can see an impact from their efforts in the area of the handicapped, and on public attitudes toward the physically and mentally challenged. "ThatâÂÂs the big thing," said Dick. "People just need to be educated. Rick is helping many other families coping with disabilities in their struggle to be included." That is not to say that all obstacles are now overcome for the Hoyts. Dick is "still bothered," he says, by people who are discomforted because Rick cannot fully control his tongue while eating. "In restaurants - and itâÂÂs only older people mostly - theyâÂÂll see RickâÂÂs food being pushed out of his mouth and theyâÂÂll leave, or change their table. But I have to say that kind of intolerance is gradually being defeated." RickâÂÂs own accomplishments, quite apart from the duoâÂÂs continuing athletic success, have included his moving on from high school to Boston University, where he graduated in 1993 with a degree in special education. That was followed a few weeks later by another entry in the Boston Marathon. As he fondly pictured it: "On the day of the marathon from Hopkinton to Boston people all over the course were wishing me luck, and they had signs up which read `congratulations on your graduation!âÂÂ" Rick now works at Boston CollegeâÂÂs computer laboratory helping to develop a system codenamed "Eagle Eyes," through which mechanical aids (like for instance a powered wheelchair) could be controlled by a paralyzed personâÂÂs eye-movements, when linked-up to a computer. Together the Hoyts donâÂÂt only compete athletically; they also go on motivational speaking tours, spreading the Hoyt brand of inspiration to all kinds of audiences, sporting and non-sporting, across the country. Rick himself is confident that his visibility â and his fatherâÂÂs dedication â perform a forceful, valuable purpose in a world that is too often divisive and exclusionary. He typed a simple parting thought: "The message of Team Hoyt is: that everybody should be included in everyday life." | "It's Winter Before We Know It" Time has a way of moving quickly and catching you unaware of the passing years.
It seems just yesterday that I was young, just married and embarking on my new life with my mate. And yet in a way, it seems like eons ago, and I wonder where all the years went. I know that I lived them all... And I have glimpses of how it was back then and of all my hopes and dreams... But, here it is..the winter of my life and it catches me by surprise... How did I get here so fast? Where did the years go and where did my babies go? And where did my youth go?
I remember well... seeing older people through the years and thinking that those older people were years away from me and that winter was so far off that I could not fathom it or imagine fully what it would be like... But, here it is...wife retired and she's really getting gray...she moves slower and I see an older woman now. She's in better shape than me... but, I see the great change... Not the one I married who was young and vibrant... but, like me, her age is beginning to show and we are now those older folks that we used to see and never thought we'd be.
Each day now, I find that just getting a shower is a real target for the day- And taking a nap is not a treat anymore...it's mandatory! Cause if I don't on my own free will...I just fall asleep where I sit!
And so, now I enter into this new season of my life unprepared for all the aches and pains and the loss of strength and ability to go and do things.
But, at least I know, that though the winter has come, and I'm not sure how long it will last...This I know- that when it's over...its over...Yes, I have regrets .There are things I wish I hadn't done ,,,,,things I should have done. But indeed, there are many things I'm happy to have done Its all in a lifetime...
So, if you're not in your winter yet...let me remind you that it will be here faster than you think. Whatever you would like to accomplish in your life please do it quickly!
Life goes by rapidly, so do what you can today. You can never be sure whether or not this is your winter.
You have no promise that you will see all the seasons of your life... live for good today and say all the things that you want your loved ones to remember...
"Life is a gift to you. The way you live your life is your gift to those who came after. Make it a fantastic one."
LIVE IT WELL!! ~author unknown~ ~Wild Mtn Honey's Time~ ~Wild Mtn Honey's Weather~ Hi everyone, I thought this little piece was worth sharing with ya'll.....It really and truly holds true. It's amazing how fast our lives go by. I pray everyone is well and enjoying the end of our weekend. Back to work tomorrow....Speaking of tomorrow...my youngest son will be 25 years old tomorrow....Where did the years go? Good night.... Much love & Blessings \u10e6~Dee~\u10e6 | |
| | ~Christmas Blessings~ Today I had the most wonderful day!.... I have been pretty down about not being with my family in New York for the holidays.....I was hoping that at least one of my sons would be able to come down here for Christmas, but with money being tight this year for them all, it was impossible. Wolfie & I went up in September, so we had no time available at our jobs to take off to go there. When I woke up this morning, I felt at peace with my Lord, I love that feeling! Wolfie & I went about our little Christmas traditions. He made Christmas breakfast, and I went about my phone calls to my family. My oldest son called me first....hearing all the hustle & bustle of his young step-children, the laughter & busyness of their early morning took me back to when my children were little. I was listening to my grandchildren and reminicing of a Christmas past. That made me feel warm inside, but at the same time realizing that I miss my sons when they were young. I smiled and told my son to call me a little later when the kids settled in to their new toys. My oldest granddaughter was next to call me. My son and I chipped in and bought her a Kodak Print n Share camera/printer set. She was ecstatic! I almost forgot how fast a New Yorker talks when they are all excited!...lol! She was already taking photo's of everything in site! Next was my middle son, his family was equally busy buzzing around, the kids were laughing & giggling, dad was trying to put toys together....ah!!!! the memories Then, my sweet, wonderful awsome mother called....She is the sweetest, most beautiful woman I know! We talked about our Christmas' past too.....She was remembering when I was a little tike, lol! Sneaking down the stairs in the middle of night coz' "Santa Claus" had been there. We laughed and teared up and smiled together, we both felt the love and warmth of Christmas' past, Christmas present, and felt blessed for Christmas' yet to come. My wonderful mother makes all kinds of baked goodies for my whole family at Christmas time. From cookies, candies, breads, cheesecakes, and spinach, sausage and cheese stuffed breads. She even shipped a package down to Wolfie & me via Overnight, so we could share in her Holiday Tradition! Now, my youngest son....he calls to tell me that the twins will be celebrating their Christmas a little bit later in the day. Mom works awake night staff and has been running on 5 hours sleep for two days of trying to keep up with the holidays. Which is fine, she needed to sleep, and the twins are young enough, they just turned 1 year old on December 5th. My son called me about 5pm and asked me to get online so he could web cam with me n Wolf so we could watch the babies open their gifts! What a wonderful thing! My son brought his Christmas to me! I sat there watching and listening to them sing and giggle and jibber jabber away! This touched my heart! This whole Blessed day had touched me in many ways..... Even though our family could not be together this year, we WERE STILL TOGETHER.....What a precious day! I thank my Lord for the wonderful things He does! I pray that each one of you had a very Blessed day as I did! I wish you all much love and Blessing in the New Year! Love, à ®Â~Dee~à ® | |
